Ray has enriched her expertise from multiple disciplines through practical experience shadowing clinical speech-language pathologists, and engagement in linguistic and voice research, including a study presented at the Voice Foundation with Dr. Johan Sundberg. A student of esteemed voice pedagogue Dr. Brian Gill, she combines her technical skill as a performer and scientist with her love for teaching.

My life in music
Denver School of the Arts Audition, 2011
At the age of 10, I auditioned for Denver School of the Arts. From 6th-12th grade I majored in vocal music at DSA, performing in classical choirs, show choir, and jazz ensembles, as well as training in musical theater and classical voice.
Throughout high school, I performed in jazz clubs around the Denver area (Dazzle, Mercury Cafe, 5 Points Festival). I also wrote jazz + a capella arrangements, and beatboxed in my groups!
First Doctoral Recital with Dr. Brian Gill, 2025
At the Jacobs School of Music, I fell deeper in love with classical music. While honing my skills in performance, I found new passions in linguistics, voice science, and pedagogy.
I continued to enrich my studies with courses in music production, recording, and even one focused on the music of Bob Dylan.
